How your privacy is protected
Every tool on this site uses JavaScript libraries (pdf-lib, pdf.js, Tesseract.js and others) that run entirely inside your web browser's own sandbox. When you drop in a file, it is read directly off your device into your browser's memory — it is never sent over the network to any server. Because nothing leaves your device, most of these tools also keep working if you lose your internet connection after the page has loaded, since the libraries and the tool itself are already cached by your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Is this actually free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use, with no account, watermark, or hidden page/size limit imposed by this site. Very large files are limited only by your own device's memory and processing power.
Are my files really not uploaded anywhere?
Correct. Each tool loads a JavaScript PDF library into your browser tab and processes your file locally. You can confirm this yourself by opening your browser's network tab while using a tool — you won't see your file being sent anywhere. A couple of tools that are inherently network-based (like URL to PDF, which has to fetch the target web page) are the exception, and that's called out on those pages.
Why did a tool say it couldn't fully process my file?
A handful of tools (Compress, PDF to Word, Replace Text, Extract Tables, PDF OCR) do the best a purely browser-based tool can do, but they're upfront about their limits — for example, PDF to Word extracts text but not exact layout, and Compress re-encodes pages as images rather than losslessly recompressing. Each tool page explains its approach.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in a modern desktop or mobile browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari). The first time you use PDF OCR, it downloads a language model the first time it runs, which needs an internet connection just for that one-time download.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes, the site is responsive and the tools work on mobile browsers, though very large files or OCR jobs will be slower on a phone's processor than on a desktop.
